Good news for comics and comedy-lovers alike, Melville is about to get a brand-new venue for stand-up comedy in the form of The Melville Comedy Club.
Located at Melville’s 1, 7th Street (opposite La Santa Muerte), the new venture is a partnership between GOLIATH AND GOLIATH and Ryan Harduth.
GOLIATH AND GOLIATH’s Kate Goliath explains that towards the end of 2018, she received an email from the landlord asking her If she’d like to view the space, run a few comedy shows and possibly open up a comedy club. “I went in and fell in love with the shell, I saw it had potential,” says Goliath.
She also explains that the Melville Comedy Club will aim to cater to comics both emerging and established. “We hope to create a space for all comics, from grass-root level right up to headliners, all the legends in the game,” explains Goliath. “And we’ll definitely be having open mic nights every Tuesday night from around 7:30pm.”
The Melville Comedy Club officially opens its doors this 31 January with a show featuring Nicholas Goliath, Loyiso Madinga, Tats Nkonzo, Shanray van Wyk, and Yusuf Cassim. They also have shows lined up for 1,2, and 3 February.
Keep up to date with their shows on Facebook.
